CLARISSE MCCLELLAN - PART II
“Bet I know something else you don’t. There’s dew on the grass in the morning.”
- Clarisse McClellan.
‘Fahrenheit, 451,’ Ray Bradbury.
TH/E takes its muses from characters in fiction. Part II of this womenswear collection stars dystopian teen Clarisse McClellan, of Bradbury’s prescient classic.
Written in 1953, the futuristic novel imagined a tech obsessed society in which all books are banned, and firemen exist to burn them.
Welcome to Clarisse’s world, where screens replace most lived experience, and nobody walks anymore. The backdrop is minds on mute behind darkened windows. In contrast, Clarisse is a tall new candle--burning at both ends, but casting a beautiful light.
She is…
The pure incandescence of a solitary flame.
An unplugged lone pedestrian, wide awake in the visceral Real.
Looking up for the moon, or down for the dew.
A sensitive badass, challenging the numbly censored norm.
Prepared to ask too many questions, in pursuit of the truly authentic, whatever the risk…
This collection captures this character’s essence over a twelve month period, through a versatile wardrobe composed of paperweight and translucent materials, set against luxurious crepe de chine and technical silk fabrics. All has been crafted with an originality infused with Clarisse’s self-possessed insouciance, innocent power, and rebellion.
Enjoy Part II.
